Lost A Tooth!

AJ finally lost his first tooth yesterday. After waiting for months, the big moment came during a math lesson. The tooth fairy gave $1.00. Ahhhh, the joys of childhood.

Camping on the North Shore

We had quite an adventure last weekend! We loaded up the camping gear and headed north. Destination: Gooseberry State Park. It was fun to have Grandma & Grandpa join us! The boys really had a blast exploring the falls, hiking in the woods, eating over the campfire, and sleeping in the tent. We made a stop in Duluth on our way back home.....watched the boats, chased the sea gulls, and played hide and seek on the big rocks. The nights got cold, but we were bundled up! Thanks, Lawrence, for planning an amazing week end....the first of many adventures on the north shore.

Jordan's First Day of Preschool

My big 4 1/2 year old had his first day of school today! He requested flapjacks for breakfast (just like in the Franklin book). It was so fun to witness his confidence as he bounded through the school doors. He was eager to check out his new classroom and meet his teacher, Mrs. Jennie. It's so good to be back in our routine!

The boys love wrestling with Daddy!

First Day of School

AJ is now my big 1st grader! He was pretty excited to pick out a nice shirt, pack his lunch, label his school supplies, and meet up with his buddy Lily at the bus stop. He came home with a positive report of Day 1.....likes his teacher and his new desk. He was pretty wiped out! His request for dinner was waffles. This may become an annual "First Day of School" meal in the Wang household.

I took the other boys to the Children's Museum. I actually enjoyed the Wizard of Oz exhibit (maybe because I saw Wicked this summer). Anyway, we missed AJ, but I'm very happy to be back into a routine again! Bring on the cool, crisp weather.

Cabin Get-Away

We enjoyed one last get-away of the summer. It was a cool cabin weekend, but perfect in my mind. The crisp air, roasting hot dogs & marshmallows on the fire, curling up with a blanket, hearing the cousins laugh together.....what a great way to say good bye to summer.

MN State Fair!

We love the State Fair! Today was rainy and cool, so the crowds were so much more manageable than we're used to. Aunt Elsie, Ben & Ama joined us this year (We missed you, Wohlrabe's...next year we'll go twice to make up for it!) Of course we enjoyed the corndogs, cheese curds, ice cream, and deep fried pickles. Jordan was thrilled to be able to join his older brother and cousin on all the big kid rides!
A Hermitage is a holy dwelling place, a simple but comfortable prayer cabin...
I just returned from a silent retreat....such a welcome respite from my daily routine! I encountered the peace of God in the silence of my hermitage. I'll find some time to reflect more on my experience....but I'm tired tonight after a full day at the State Fair!

Family Camp

We had a blast at family camp last week end! Amazing time with good friends, perfect weather, rock climbing, zip line, water slide, campfires, haywagon ride, tenting, great food, and encounters with a living, loving God. And now that our "baby" is potty trained, with every other milestone that goes along with all the boys being 3+ we're finding it so much easier to travel!
