Family Camp

We spent last weekend at Covenant Pines Camp with the amazing people from our church family. The boys were truly in their element, running all over the place, in a safe environment, surrounded by so many people who care for them. We had our version of the Olympics, enjoyed a "hay wagon ride" (no hay), campfire, and swimming. We ended the weekend by writing down hopes for the coming year and burying them in a Faith Capsule. As you can see, AJ helped dig the hole. We'll dig up the box at next year's Family Camp. I'm feeling so blessed to belong to this faith community.

Todo Poderoso

I love AJ's free spirit. Here he is singing a Spanish song called Todo Poderoso.

Going deeper.....

By nature I'm a very reflective person, and one of my favorite things to do is start my morning on my front porch with my journal and a cup of coffee. Needless to say, my typical morning as a mom of 3 little boys doesn't allow for much quiet reflection. So this has been an adjustment for me. Four years into parenting, I'm starting to achieve a healthy balance, but I still have a ways to go. In between diaper changes, storytelling, and meal preparation, I'm trying to go deeper. As "life" happens, I've needed to adjust my outlook. Instead of allowing myself to get overwhelmed by my daily challenges, and frustrated that my identity seems entirely wrapped up in parenting, I'm trying to choose joy and contentment, to live purposefully. Each day is a gift, and I want to live with gratitude for the gifts in my life.

I believe God is guiding my journey, and I'm amazed by His faithfulness to me. Too often I take my life into my own hands, instead of entrusting it to God. I tend to limit God, and put Him in a box. This Bible verse has always spoken to me--- "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6

Fillings

AJ had to get 2 cavities filled today. I wasn't sure how he would do with the novocain but he was such a brave boy. The numbing sensation was weird for him, but no complaining. I'm just glad his first experience at the dentist wasn't traumatic. Thank you, Dr. Lande!

Friends at the Cabin

Good buddies.....Josh & AJ.....always ready to pose for the camera!

We had our 4th annual Wang, Boucher, and Foley weekend at the cabin. The kids jumped off the swim raft, roasted hotdogs on the fire, and the grownups enjoyed some relaxation and a rousing game of Apples to Apples! (I love this game and would highly recommend it. :-) This weekend I was once again struck by how blessed we are with all of the friendships in our lives. God is good!

Minnesota Summer

We Minnesotans talk about the weather a lot......probably because most often the conditions are less than ideal. It's been a sweltering hot week. Well, tonight was pretty much perfect. We decided to go to Lake Como to go fishing. Didn't catch anything, but the boys were more interested in just running on the dock anyway.
