Going deeper.....

By nature I'm a very reflective person, and one of my favorite things to do is start my morning on my front porch with my journal and a cup of coffee. Needless to say, my typical morning as a mom of 3 little boys doesn't allow for much quiet reflection. So this has been an adjustment for me. Four years into parenting, I'm starting to achieve a healthy balance, but I still have a ways to go. In between diaper changes, storytelling, and meal preparation, I'm trying to go deeper. As "life" happens, I've needed to adjust my outlook. Instead of allowing myself to get overwhelmed by my daily challenges, and frustrated that my identity seems entirely wrapped up in parenting, I'm trying to choose joy and contentment, to live purposefully. Each day is a gift, and I want to live with gratitude for the gifts in my life.

I believe God is guiding my journey, and I'm amazed by His faithfulness to me. Too often I take my life into my own hands, instead of entrusting it to God. I tend to limit God, and put Him in a box. This Bible verse has always spoken to me--- "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6
